1.1    Motive                           :  The Manuals are published to access various details about Samrat Ashok Technological Institute (Engineering College) Vidisha, (M.P.) as per the provisions of Right to   Information Act - 2005

Particulars of Organization, Function and Duties

 

2.1       Objective / Purpose of Samrat Ashok Technological Institute (Engineering College) Vidisha , (M.P.)  : To provide Technical, Science and Management Education to students

 

 2.2      Vision statement: To contribute towards service and development of the mankind, through quality education and research, in the area of science & technology.

 

2.3       Brief History of the college : The institute was established on Nov. 1, 1960 under the open door policy of Government of India, by the Late his Highness Maharaja Jiwajirao Scindia, earst while ruler of Gwalior State and is governed by Maharaja Jiwajirao Education Society, Vidisha. The foundation stone of the Institute was laid down by Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, Prime Minister of India on Feb. 13, 1962 and was inaugurated by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, President of India. The Institute started with the three core branches- Civil, Mechanical & Electrical Engg. At present apart from these core branches the institute is running Bachelor of Engineering Programme in Electronics & Instrumentations, Computer Sc. & Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics & Tele-communication and Bio-Medical Engineering with a total intake of 480 at UG level. At Post Graduate level there are Ten PG Courses in Engineering and Four courses in Applied Sciences, M.C.A. and M.B.A.

The Institute is located in Vidisha, and is spread over 85 Acres of land in the middle of the town with all modern facilities. The Institute has four Boys and three Girls Hostels, to cater the need of hostel facility to the students. The Institute also possesses all facilities for sports and cultural activities.

Administrative :  Chief Academic  & Executive Officer of the college.Disciplinary authority, Custodian of records, funds and

Financial : Construction purpose : Equal to that of Chief Engineer, Public Works Dept., Govt. of M.P.  

                                Purchase : Rs.100,000/-  and above with permission of Management

Chairman :  Academic Affairs Committee, Proctorial board,  & other committees

Duties. :

  • Management of the college in accordance with the rules and regulation of the college

      

 

Academic staff

 

Designation : Head of the department  

Powers :

Administrative : All executive powers of the department. Purchase of equipment, machines and recurring and non recurring needs of the
                        departments after approval of the Director. Member of the various committees of the institute. Member of the  selection
                        committee to select teaching  & Non teaching staff of the Department.

 Duties

  • To impart education to the students
  • To follow the rules and regulations of the institute.
  • To maintain cordial atmosphere in the department, among teachers and students.
  • To enhance research and other development facilities in the departments.
  • To develop new courses, laboratories and various other academic activities of the departments.
  • To Guide/promote research work and dissertations.
  • To guide/promote Ph.D. Research.
  • To resolve Academic and personal problems of the students.
  • To comply the order of Superior authorities.

  • He is responsible for the administration of administrative staff and he works directly under the guidance of Director & Professor in-charge establishment.

  • To maintain the coordination among  administrative staff of the institute.
  •  To guide in preparation of establishment related documents.
  • He is responsible for the store purchase and Secretary of SATI Co-operative store.
  •  To follow the rules and regulations of the institute.

Procedure followed in Decision Making Process

 

9.1              Policy matters are decided by Governing Body/Managing Committee, Service matters

of the   college are regulated as per bye-laws of  BOG and M.P. Government Rules and regulations framed from time to time.  Academic matters are decided based on the guidelines of AICTE and Rajiv Gandhi Technical University, Bhopal and orders of Government  of Madhya Pradesh.

    

9.2       All the important matters are decided by different committees formed by the Governing Body based on the details placed by the Director, Member secretary  as agenda items. The final decision is vested with BOG.

    

9.3       The admission policy, reservation of seats, etc., are communicated to the public by Information Brochure/Prospectus.

    

9.4       The Director being the Member-Secretary places all the important matters for decision of the Governing Body.
